foyer

When you first enter you will be in the Foyer world, it's a landing place for new players and a spawn point for the reborn ones. It serves as a portal to the other worlds. You wont be able to build here, use the gateway signs to get to one of many places...

what's your play style?

Each world on monosoho has a different play style, anything from freebuild to hardcore RPG. Use the table below to understand what world(s) suit your mood. You can switch between them freely, play on as many as you want, so your initial choice is not final.

If you count how many distinct worlds we have you'll come to eight or nine - are we crazy? Yes. Most definitely.

Once you've chosen your destination, you can jump into a gateway and you'll be instantly transported there.

creative

If all these exploding monsters and night times are getting you down, try a relaxing break in Creative. Here you can create at will. Don't fear the creeper, man. There's a building called [Supply] where you can get most anything you want.

The only building guidelines here are, not to build too close to other people's structures and erect only pixel art around the rail loop (facing the rail line please). This way people can take a ride on the Pixel-express and view your work.

You can catch a ride on the pixel-express from the other side of the [Supply] building.

settler

This is our largest and oldest world. Parts of it date back to November, 2010. It contains three main settlements, kilometres of railways and wide open spaces waiting to be settled on. You can settle almost anywhere that's vacant - with two exceptions;
Spawnton is a city building project and only buildings within the theme of a contemporary city are permitted - ask an op if you have an idea.
Mount Doom is a National Park, you are permitted to venture into its caves, and mine what resources you find, but building structures is not permitted. (Note that this area of the map is reset from time to time)

Matton City

Matton City is where it all began. Back at the start of November, 2010 a handful of hopefuls (mostly named Matthew) set foot on a sand bar. Keeping a watchful eye on the setting sun, they quickly made a barricade of sand blocks to keep back the hordes. That little hole in the ground grew to a small wooden shack, and from there Matton City was born. The historical shack is still intact, preserved as a museum.

From the central tower you can make your way along the rail loop, the glass skywalks, or set out on foot along the ground if you are game. Be careful the area, despite being heavily developed, is still thickly wooded. You never know what's lurking behind a tree. Before you go, you might want to grab a meal at the Crafty Diner, or some supplies from the vending machines.

Rail links to Mount Doom and Spawnton are available from the services level of the central tower.

Legitville

The village of Legitville was the second settlement in these lands. For miles around the central transport hub (which has a boat harbour, and a number of rail lines out of it) you will find constructions of all types. From castles to giant skeletons, from multi-storied glasshouses to a life sized replica of the Graff Zeppelin LZ127.

Most of the land around Legitville is developed in some way. So you'll need to head a long way away for new land.

There is a rail link to Spawnton as well as a loop rail and skywalk around the inner area.

Spawnton

Spawnton is right in the centre of Settler. It is a planned city, only buildings within its urban theme are permitted. You're free to look around, but be careful at night, we have a bit of a crime problem (creepers, skeletons, zombies, giant spiders, the usual big city problems).

Spawnton currently has rail links to Matton City, Mount Doom and Legitville, and soon will have railways pushing into the currently uncharted lands.

Mount Doom, National Park

Mount Doom is a tectonic anomaly, forced up from below, corrupting the lands around it *cough*shittymapediting*cough*. Giant volcanic tunnels decent into the depths, sporting vast mineral wealth, but also terrible dangers. Ascend to the plateau above and venture the surreal landscape. Descend into the many vast volcanic tubes to the very centre of the earth.

Mount Doom is a national park, so building structures above ground is discouraged. Even base camps people have attempted to build there are washed away by some strange powers. Spelunkers of the caves however are permitted to mine the minerals found deep inside. Getting out alive with them is another proposition altogether...

Travellers are encouraged to make use of the base camp lodge which is serviced by a rail link to Matton City and Spawnton via eSnake Junction.

anarchy

Anarchy was started under Minecraft 1.8pre1 and has a lot of the new features (npc villages, underground mines, strongholds etc). Anarchy is a PVP world, but that doesn't mean griefing. Play the game in the spirit it is intended.

survivor

Hardcore Minecraft as Notch intends. 100% legit. No mods, gives, or cheats. With one exception it will let you set one home. Survivor is only accessible from the foyer world. This is a new world generated by Minecraft 1.0. This world is hard to get started on, you spawn on an island with no trees and nothing but water around you. First you will need to swim for one of the distant shores.

nether

If you manage to collect or manufacture enough obsidian, you can build a portal on settler, anarchy or survivor that will open into the nether. There are actually three distinct nethers; "hell", "hades" and "blazes" they are each attached to their respective worlds.

Make sure you're kitted up for this place of fire, lava and strange beasts. Search for an abandoned fortress, but watch out for its protectors. Remember pigmen are friends not food. Well maybe a sometimes food.

adventure! treasure! owie owie death!

This space holds our carte de jour (I think that's French for map of the day. But don't say it to a French speaker, they'll probably slap you). When a new and interesting adventure map appears, it's hosted here.

Right now you can find:

absolutely nothing!™

We do not currently have an adventure map running. Post in the forums if you have found a suitable, multiplayer compatible map.
